Fixing The Reason You Stopped Using It
Most conservatories are unbearable in July and freezing in January, and the roof is almost always the cause. Replacing a polycarbonate or glass roof with a solid, insulated tiled roof changes the temperature of the room completely, and usually cures the leaks and the noise in heavy rain at the same time.

Why choose us
What you get with A-List Roofing
-
Comfortable All Year
An insulated solid roof evens out the temperature so the room works in summer and winter rather than neither.
-
Quieter In Heavy Rain
Polycarbonate amplifies rain noise. A tiled roof removes the drumming that makes the room unusable during downpours.
-
Ends Persistent Leaks
Ageing glazing bars and seals are a common source of drips. A new roof deals with the cause rather than resealing.
-
Options Explained
Tiled, solid or replacement polycarbonate all have their place. We set out what suits your frame and budget.
Worth knowing
Before You Replace A Conservatory Roof
Two things are worth establishing early. The existing frame and base need to be sound enough to carry a heavier roof, which is what the survey is for. And replacing a conservatory roof with a solid one can bring the work under building regulations depending on the design and how the room connects to the house — we will tell you when that looks likely so it is not a surprise later.

Our process
How A Conservatory Roof Is Replaced
The existing frame and base have to be able to carry the new roof, so we start by checking what you already have.
-
Survey The Structure
We assess the existing frame, base and fixings to confirm what weight of roof the conservatory can take.
-
Discuss The Options
We talk through tiled, solid and polycarbonate options with the trade-offs of each, then quote in writing.
-
Remove & Rebuild
The old roof comes off and the new structure, insulation and covering go on, keeping the room weathertight throughout.
-
Finish & Clear
We complete the internal and external finishes, check the detailing against the house wall, and clear the site.

Conservatory Roof FAQs
Common questions about conservatory roofs. If yours isn't here, just ask — we're happy to talk it through.
Can any conservatory take a tiled roof?
Not automatically. The existing frame and base have to be able to carry the additional weight, which is one of the first things we check at survey.
Will a solid roof make the room darker?
It changes the light, though roof windows are usually built into the design to keep the room bright while still insulating it.
Does the work need building regulations approval?
It can do, depending on the design and how the conservatory connects to the house. We will flag it where it looks likely, but confirmation comes from your local authority.
Can you just replace the polycarbonate?
Yes, if the frame is sound and you are happy with the format. It is the cheaper option, though it will not solve the temperature or noise issues.
How long does a conservatory roof take?
Most are completed in a matter of days depending on size and design. We keep the room weathertight while the work is under way.
